I dont think I had ever noticed that before.  Thanks for pointing it out
(apologies for not looking harder).

I should probably try and extend it so that it also works if you drop on
the Document area.  Depending on whether the file is raster or vector you
could either open a new window or insert into current document as
appropriate.  (I'll have to check the Gimp 1.3 when I get home and see if
dropping on the document window still does nothing).
