You seem to be assuming that this is a browser affair? 'Fraid not.
Digital money systems need to store something on the disk, and they
need to do it securely. This rules out straight browsers, as they
have no easy access (you could do it with applets or plugins, of
course, but that depends on whether you can cram all the code into
them, and set up trust relationships and so forth).
WebFunds is a Java program that you download and get going. There
are other architectures coming, but for the moment, about the only
thing you could do with lynx is access the e-gold site, and that
would require the ssl version.
