There is a patent which RSADSI claims to cover RC6. If RC6 is accepted
as AES, RSADSI has agreed to give up some patent rights to RC6. Until
RC6 is accepted, RSADSI can do what they want. If RC6 is not accepted,
RSADSI can do what they want.

RSADSI has intellectual property claims on RC4, too, but I don't believe they
are valid

You should consider absolutely free alternatives: triple-DES, Blowfish,
Twofish.
