M.A.Padlipsky has also written several RFC's, including:
RFC 871 A Perspective on the Arpanet Reference Model
(which talks about ARM vs. ISORM.)
RFC 875 Gateways, Architectures, and Heffalumps
which includes this marvelous paragraph:
" In our collective zeal to remain (or become)
abreast of the State of the Art, we sometimes
fall into one or the other (or both) of a couple
of pitfalls. Only one of these pitfalls is
particularly well-known: "Buzzwords" -- and
even here merely knowing the name doesn't
necessarily effect a spontaneous solution. The
other deserves more attention: inadequate
familiarity with The Relevant Literature. "
RFC 874 A Critique of X.25
A rather more detailed critique of ISORM, if
you still believe in "seven-ness".
RFC 872 "TCP-ON-A-LAN"
(explains the basics of TCP/IP networking.)
These are available for free electronically and don't
depend on the vagaries of the book distribution system.

(replace 871 with the appropriate number)

Ds.internic.net appears to be *very* slow. These appear to be
much faster:
