I'm sorry to post this as an attachment, but I'm doing it this way so the post will not be archived.
Near the end of August, a lot of posts were sent to sci.crypt and other newsgroups by Harris/Idaho.
By the beginning of November, Harris/Idaho have changed their identities to Fox/Scully and are posting only in alt.lang.euphoria and fr.test.
The main algorithm used is unknown but could be an autokey cipher.
The ciphertext is superencrypted sometimes by the Envoi program, a unkeyed program, a lot of times by the Enigma algorithm.
Some of the Enigma messages have been broken -- they use the 3-rotorWehrmacht version.
However, after stripping the superencryption, at least two of these messages are S/MIME messages encrypted with RC2-40/CBC.
Inside these two messages may be plaintext; or it may be yet another layerof encryption.
Thus I need two things:
- A coordinator to coordinate the breaking effort
- A lot of people to donate their CPU time using Bruce Schneier's RC2 breaker program ( http://www.counterpane.com )
Perhaps then we will finally find out what this Idaho/Harris stuff really is!
