A reference implementation of MD-5, authored by Ron Rivest, is included in
RFC1321 http://info.internet.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc/files/rfc1321.txt and is
freely useable, as long as credit is given to RSADSI. However, it contains a
typo: see e.g.
http://www.alcrypto.co.uk/cryptocd/source/hashes/md5/c/ellis/Readme.txt .

By the way, at http://www.alcrypto.co.uk/cryptocd/source/hashes/ you'll find
many implementations in several languages of most hashes.
