Anyone seen www.meganet.com? I tried to access meganet after seeing a
Simpsons episode, and guess what there is one. They have some thing
called
VME (Virtual Matrix Encryption), and it is complete trash snake oil.
They claim that they have an algorithm called DLA that will decrypt to
garbage after it's expiration date. I'm sure you all know that is not
possible unless they have a time machine and the ability to change
fundamental properties of mathematics. They are offerring $100,000 to
break their garbage encryption every month, but they ain't giving out
code. And they give a new challenge every month (to avoid brute force,
I would assume). The obscurity on this one looks pretty thick, but if
they were a true secure system they wouldn't need it. I just thought it
was time to blow the whistle. I hope this hasn't already been discussed
to death.
