Please accept my apologies for the "Test" message I sent earlier.
Here's the thing: I never expected the message to be copied to the list, since
THIS ADDRESS ISN'T SUBSCRIBED TO THE LIST.
I couldn't remember how one joins the list, so I used an alternate e-mail
address to send a message to the list address, fully expecting the list
server
to bounce the message ("you are not a subscriber to this list"), and
perhaps provide instructions on how to join.
Obviously, it didn't, which means we all have a problem. If ANYONE can send
messages to this list, regardless of whether or not they have joined the list,
we're probably going to see a lot of spam and what not in the future - the
unmoderated cypherpunks list provides a model of what things might be like.
Perhaps the list owner might be so kind as to investigate and fix the problem?
