Yeiks folks, have non of you ever used a _real_ computer!?! There
are machine that have SEVRAL bits of checksum per byte of RAM and
extra lines of memory buss with _separate_ checksum and then even
the CPU's has a separate checksum.
Yes an error (maybe 3 or 4 bits minimum in separate nibbles) could
get by on such machines, but it is vastly unlikely. These are the
sorts of machines that the high end prime hunters use. Prime
number searching software is often used to test high end number
cruncher machines, so the same prime is searched for again and again,
and let me assure you they are not small primes.

This is a silly topic to talk about, unless you have to use the junk
CPU's from Intel (otherwise a great company).
