Hello all.
At last, the report on NCash is finished. It will be presented next
Friday, February 6, at 13:15. The place is ISY's seminarierum, house
B, at the Linköping institute of Technology. You are most welcome.
In case any of you outside Linköping want to show up, contact me if
you need directions or any other information.
The report can be down-loaded at
http://www.lysator.liu.se/~nisse/NCash/NCash.ps .
The current status of the NCash software is that it is almost usable.
There are a few known bugs that I will look at after the presentation
and other procedures are over, and certainly some yet unknown problems
as well. The latest snapshot can be found at
http://www.lysator.liu.se/~nisse/NCash/snapshot.tar.gz
To actually try it out, you also need a few other packages:
The pike interpreter, found at
ftp://ftp.idonex.se/pub/pike/Pike-v0.5b1.tar.gz,
the GNU gmp bignum library, at
ftp://ftp.lysator.liu.se/pub/gnu/gmp-2.0.2.tar.gz,
and the pike cryptography toolkit, at
http://www.lysator.liu.se/~nisse/archive/.obscurity/pikecrypto.tar.gz.
If you need help installing any of this, please let me know.
Best regards,
/Niels Möller
LEGALESE:
Note that it is unclear whether or not exporting the NCash software
and the pike cryptography toolkit is an illegal violation of the
Wassenaar arrangements, concerned with export of "dual use" and mass
destruction technology. I believe that exporting this software is
indeed legal (and even if it's not, I don't care too much about that).
The license and copying conditions for all these packages is the GNU
General Public License, except for the GMP library which is
distributed under the LGPL.
Various patents might restrict use of the software; as NCash is
primarily an academic project I haven't put much effort into
investigating the patent status of the methods and algorithms that I
use.
