No formal standard. Obviously, there'd be directions for each connection
point, so having them as attributes of the point tag in connections should
work. Something like
<connections>
<point x="3" y="2" north="closed" west="closed"/>
</connections>
If no directions are given, use the 'intelligence'. Otherwise, those
directions mentioned are as set and the rest are the opposite way.
