dia CVS version crashes on File->New

The CVS version of dia crashes on me when I select File->New
(the same happens when I try to open a diagram)

Does anyone of the recent CVS committers feel guilty?
I wasn't able to track the problem down further.
Below is the backtrace.
10 days ago the CVS version worked fine for me,
in the meantime I upgraded from SuSE 7.3 to 8.0.
